“The mission of the SRBA Foundation is to safeguard the club's historic architecture and protect the nearby environment.

The exterior brick veneer of the clubhouse has been deteriorating over time and is now being carefully removed and restored to its original appearance. Originally, the brick was lime-washed red, before it was painted gray.

This restoration project has received full support from the foundation. It is a necessary task to preserve the building's structural integrity and architectural character, and it will greatly enhance storm resilience in the near term. Simply put, this is what we must do now for the building's survival, with more tasks ahead in the years to come. We must not forget the significance of losing the clubhouse to the future of Bailey's Beach and the Ocean Road National Historic Landmark District in which it is located. The loss of our iconic building would erase cherished memories and associations held dear by club members and the general public. Moreover, it is highly unlikely that a replacement building would be permitted in this location; in many ways, this building is truly irreplaceable."
